Individual Name
Wiess College - MS738
Rice University
P. O. Box 1892
Houston, TX 77251-1892
What are Freshman Service Points?
Every Freshman is required to perform four hours of service to better Wiess College. This could involve helping build tabletop stages, working on NOD decorations
and many more tasks that have to happen in order to keep Wiess functioning. Freshman Reps keep track of these points and there are consequences for not
completing a full four hours.
What is a room jack and how does it work?
When accepted to Rice University, you are guaranteed three years out of four years of on campus housing. Because Wiess is a smaller college, we do not have rooms
for everyone throughout their four years of college. Therefore (typically during Sophomore year), students can elect to go off campus or have their names drawn out of a hat for room priority.
If rooms are available, the highest priority students recieve a room offer first. The offers go down the line of students based off of the lottery until all the rooms
are filled.
For more information,
contact the Housing Representative.
(Also, do not fear! While not guaranteed, sost sophomores who want to live on campus have recieved a housing offer in the past.)
