There is a new Games page that lists all of the Wiess owned board games. There is also a Request Form should you have an idea for a new game for us to acquire.
I warned you not to blink, didn't I?
So the first week of class is over, the first Baker 13 has challenged the Wiess Defense Force for the year, and Freshman-One Acts have been cast.
In short, the year is moving along. Don't blink.
Now that the freshmen are in their whirling world of orientation, it's probably time for the rest of us to start packing...
If you're too lazy or prone to procrastination, make the forums an active place today!
The freshman have arrived!
I'm happy that you lot are finally here! I'm for one hoping that everything will go just dandy with this week!
That advancing Hurricane Dean may have something else to say about it though. I will keep any official Rice decision about preparation or evacuation here.
In lighter news, a fully functional forum can be found here, at http://www.teamwiess.com/forums/ . Make yourself an ID and, if you're a Wiessman, request to join the Wiessman group, which gives you access to most everything on the site.
There's a secret function just around the corner
Okay, so its not that secret - its a fully function phpBB forum. What's that mean? Most simply, it means a place to announce events, parties, gatherings, discuss various topics when trying to ignore that homework assignment you have. Hopefully, we'll post the Cabinet meetings, as well as anything interesting coming along. People interested in being moderators should contact me, but don't be doing it just for the powers that come with it - abuses will not be tolerated!*
With the help of a unique sophomore musie and, hopefully, our favorite New Jersey Italian, we will have the site open for registration some time during O-Week.
The time draws near for all good freshman to realize their past, present and future: Wiess College. More than just a dorm, its your family (with a lot more fun).
I apologize for being tardy on several updates to the page - I was on vacation last week and forgot to bring the site with me, and this week I've been working 11 hour days for Raytheon. The good news is that my last day is Tuesday. The bad news is that I'm not sure my brain can last that long.
A friendly freshman informed me that the site is too large for her browser's resolution - oops. I'll try and start switching the site over to a format that renders nicely no matter if you have a 800x600 screen, or you roll in 1680x1050 like me. This will not be the fastest upgrade, and may simply involve another major renovation of the site. But hey, Wiess deserves it. I've also been told that a forum would be appreciated for Wiessmen to converse on - anyone else have opinions on this?
If I may be so bold, point yourself at Resources--> Calendar to get a brand new resource to the TFW website! I've been fixing up little bugs that people have emailed to me, polishing what I can. I know there is a problem viewing this page in Internet Explorer 6! It's been bugging me like all get out as I see it everyday when I'm working - I have a fix for it, and you'll see it slowly implemented through the website's navigation bar.
On another note, can you believe that we're less than a month away from being at school? For you freshman, I'd highly suggest starting packing earlier than I did - and try and get some sleep before you go to Rice because you won't be getting any during O-Week. It's simply too much fun and too many things to do to allow for sleep. You'll see what I'm trying to convey soon, so I'll stop there.
This website is here to improve the connectedness of our college. Primarily, it's a wonderful resource for our new freshman, who should find the contacts useful, if nothing else. Knowing who to contact is an important part of being in college - don't be afraid to ask other people questions! I daresay you'll get some of the best advice during sticky situations from people like our masters, Mike Gustin and Denise Klein.
Throughout your stay here, you should remember one thing: TFW!
Most of the information on this website should be accurate. If you find something that's not then just drop the webmaster a line! I'd love to hear your thoughts, questions and suggestions on the new site.
