The Commons are a general hangout for Wiessmen - whether digging into a cinammon roll or doing homework in the wee hours of the morning, there is always at least one friendly face sitting at one of these tables. Although there is a joke that the architect who designed this had some basic geometry issues (see Dr. Dodds, one of our senior associates, for some great stories about the design of New Wiess), it doesn't stop us from loving our glass living space. We allow Wiess Tabletop to take over the Commons during the final weeks of their musicals and plays. Equipped with a massive projection screen, the Commons will play host to many functions throughout the year besides your meals. Posters and table-spam adorn the room in attempts to grab your attention - but what will always grab your attention is how the Commons serves as a reminder of how involved Wiess really is in the rest of campus!
This page describes all the fiefs in the kingdom of Wiess!
The Commons
The Acabowl
This area is host to a number of activities at Wiess, including official activities like Jamfest to random pickup games of soccer in the rain. The Acabowl is home to our acatramp and aca-hammock, as well as an outdoor dining area. If you're feeling up to the task, there are two built-in charcoal grills there that enable some great cooking. The Acabowl is often a reminder to relax - there's usually at least one pair of Wiessmen tossing a frisbee or amiably chatting while enjoying some light reading in the pleasant spring weather.
The Acaterrace
Even though it is shared by our lackluster rivals, the Hanszenites, the Acaterrace offers a fairly nice place to gather some peace and quiet. Rarely is this area being used, making its offering of tables and chairs useful for those who might want to get some studying done outside, or enjoy the breeze that is often present up-top.
